Writing is the part of the work that can be checked.

Advice is taken on trust. An argument written down is not: it can be read against what has happened since, which is the only honest test either principal can offer before a mandate starts.

The reasoning, not the conclusion

What was assumed, what was uncertain, and what would have to be true for the argument to hold. A reader who only receives conclusions cannot challenge them.

Nothing gated

No form in front of a document. If a piece is worth reading it is worth reading now, and whether to write to us afterwards is a separate decision.

Every piece is signed

A practice of two owes the reader the view they are actually getting. Each essay carries the name of the principal who wrote it and the record behind it.
